The Netflix original series Skylanders Academy has arrived on small (and smaller) screens everywhere and we couldn’t be any happier.
When I first heard the name of this Skylanders show, I dreamed of it being a Monsters University type of conceit, with all of our favorite dragons, elves, en fuego monsters and undead heroes in some kind of training school, cracking jokes, learning from Eon and other portal masters, and in general, being a casually hilarious look at life in Skylands before we first met them in the groundbreaking original game — a cartoon Netflix prequel to a video game series, if you will.
Now, the Academy doors have swung open and there are 12 amazing episodes of Skylanders Academy ready for you and your kids to binge watch this Halloween weekend as you prep your costumes…maybe a Chop Chop or Spyro get-up for the 31st?

Led by showrunner Eric Rogers (Futurama), Skylanders Academy features the voices of Justin Long (Ask Me Anything) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Phineas and Ferb) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks (my god is that perfect casting or what?). Additional voice talent includes Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams.
Whether you binge Skylanders Academy this weekend or stretch out the fun into November, make plans to spend some QT with my girl Stealth Elf and the rest of the Skylanders on Netflix.
