The Return of Mr. Headyguard

Mr-Headyguard-in-the-wild

A rare Mr. Headyguard sighting in the wild.

He blew in with the wind, very early on an otherwise unremarkable Sunday morning, and for nearly an hour he answered the phones of a doctor’s office, natural history-ish museum, King Tut’s residence in ancient Egypt, and ‘The Crumblers’ factory where they, um, crumble stuff.

The voice of the famously curious Spanish Italian man wasn’t the only one heard as we snuggled in bed with no place at all to be. There was a pair of Crumblers, including Y.S. who says very little more than her catch phrase, “you see, I’m Y.S., you see?”, King Tut’s butler (or Tutler as I prefer to call him), the good King Tut himself, the museum operator/front desk twins, and a thoroughly apathetic Jeremy in the hall of records room at the museum.

My oldest child was in rare form, inventing new characters and developing their voices and personalities on the fly as this story we two crafted from nothing unfolded. The Mrs. who was still mostly-sleeping was even seen smiling as she drifting into and out of dreamland, and the Mouse who was snuggled in between all of us and all of this was enthralled watching and listening to a most unusual improv comedy show, and clamored for more when it finally reached it’s illogical logical conclusion.

Just another reminder, because even I, the ‘tiny moments matter a lot’ guy need them from time to time, that, well, tiny moments matter a lot and you never ever can tell when something magical will happen when you are present with your children.
