Yeah, I know, they are technically called Sidekicks, but c’mon, any Skylanders fanatic who also happens to be a young girl is going to instantly turn these pint-sized Sidekicks into a brand new mommy/baby game within minutes. Well, maybe not every girl, but my pair had mommy Stealth Elf and papa Gill Grunt PLUS all 20+ of their full-sized Skylander figures out on the table within 45 seconds of opening the envelopes containing their two sidekicks, Whisper Elf and Gill Runt.
Factions formed that doubled as families, villains emerged, and a whole new game was created on the kitchen table. This is an example, another one, of why Skylanders have, and continue to, hit it WAY out of the park. The portal and video game are great, beyond great, but the possibilities that exist with the figures alone — offline with the TV’s screen still its glossy reflective black — is brilliant. Oh and these Sidekicks work on the portal in the game too! But we haven’t gotten there yet.
Want some sidekicks of your own? I’ve got two more Frito-Lay multi-pack UPC codes and entry forms sitting in my drawer unused. You need one of each of those, plus a check for $2, to get a Skylanders Sidekick. Leave a comment here telling me which one you’d want the most: Whisper Elf, Gill Runt, Trigger Snappy, or Terrabite. There are more ways to win too, check the giveaway widget below. I’ll pick a pair of winners next week. Good Luck!
