There are approximately a zillion and a half things to be done before I successfully get my wife and two daughters out the door to start our summer vacation:
Did I remember sunscreen? The tangle of charging cables for all the different devices? Bathing suits? Pillows? Our National Parks pass? Have I put the mail on hold? Oh no! Did I pack enough underwear??
I can prepare for a road trip until the cows come home, but I know I’ll forget something. I always forget something.
Dinner, you might be surprised to learn, is one of the things I actively choose to forget before a big trip.
Don’t be silly! Of course I still feed my family, but I do whatever I can to avoid spending excess amounts of time prepping, cooking, and cleaning up after a meal when there are countless other tasks to accomplish before we leave…like cleaning the rest of the house. What? Call me crazy, but I enjoy returning from vacation to find a pristine home!
This summer, before we head west on an epic 3-week, cross-country road trip adventure, I’m turning my clean-as-a-whistle kitchen over to Ristorante Pizza.
That’s right, a huge part of my pre-vacation prep this summer involves the deliciousness of frozen, thin crust Ristorante Pizza. This is because 1) I know my family is going to gobble up every last slice and 2) I’ll have only four plates and cups to wash at the end of the meal, giving me more time to triple check my packing list to ensure I don’t forget to pack…earbuds! See, I nearly forgot those.
With no prep needed and just 12 minutes of baking time, my family will be sitting down to more than a few pizza dinners later this month. And with eight unique varieties, one night will certainly feature fresh mozzarella, diced tomatoes, and pesto sauce (Pizza Mozzarella) – yum – while another will have us on a veggie kick with Pizza Spinachi.
Instead of spending an hour doing dishes, Ristorante Pizza lets me sit down with my wife to plot our course, find out exactly where the world’s largest picnic basket is located, and get ready for the greatest summer family vacation ever.
Keep an eye on the Dr. Oetker Facebook for sweet recipes and offers, and use the Ristorante Pizza store locator to make sure you’ve got one or two no-prep pre-vacation dinners ready in your freezer too!
