I’m tall, can’t play even the basic melody of “Jingle Bells” on the piano and, if it’s all the same to you, my appetite and I will pass on bottles of both red and white wine. Clearly, I’m no Billy Joel. No one would ever confuse me for an entertainer.
It’s true, my modest suburban home doesn’t play host to many social gatherings nor does it feature the elegance of a baby grand piano showpiece, but should I have you and your people over someday for whatever reason, one thing is for certain, I will Stuff. Your. Face.
My mom still pokes fun at the first family party I hosted, many years ago upon moving into my first home, because there was nary a type of food not represented in my offerings. My spread had everything, A LOT of everything, because I didn’t want to risk being the host who didn’t have something for everyone or the host who runs out of a particular food someone was enjoying. As a result, we were left dining on leftover sausages, soft pretzels and lunchmeat for days.
This fall, when we invite family and friends over to enjoy our decorated home with us – our humble abode really does glisten whether draped in pumpkin orange and autumnal reds of fall or once the tinsel and lights are hung – Ristorante Pizza, already a staple of our weekly meal planning, will feature prominently.
