What is your all-time favorite film?

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I can watch this movie over and over and over again — and have! It’s a life stopper when I come across it on TV, because I just have to watch it through. “Who are those guys?” Gets me every time. It’s probably no coincidence that the same thing happens when I find The Princess Bride, which was written by the same guy. I’ve already watched The Princess Bride with my daughter countless times, but I really can’t wait until she’s old enough for Butch Cassidy.

What food do you like best when watching a movie?

Oh man, food and movies just go hand in hand. Nutritionist readers out there are probably screaming, “No!” but nothing beats a big bowl of popcorn — sprinkled with salt and butter and this Japanese hot powder or grated Parmesan cheese. Yum! A lot of times, we’ll just order a pizza and then make our own sundaes or brownies. We don’t watch a lot of TV, so movie night is a big deal when we remember to do it. We go all out.

What all-ages/family movie coming out this summer are you most excited to see?

We don’t really rush out to movies so much, because I can’t stand crowds and people talking during movies. So kids movies at the theater are naturally like some circle of hell from Dante. I’d much rather watch at home, but that said, my daughter seems to be interested in snails recently and even has a few for pets. So she’s excited about some snail movie coming out — racing snails or some such [Turbo]. So we’ll probably hit up the theater for that one.

Alastair Moock — Musician

Moock is a Boston-area family musician who’s new album, Singing Our Way Through: Songs for the World’s Bravest Kids, was inspired by his daughter Clio’s fight against Leukemia. The terrific CD of Americana & folk music, already lauded as a masterpiece by Salon.com, will be released tomorrow.  Katie Couric’s interview with the frog-throated troubadour will air on Yahoo! News next week, and a big Boston Globe feature is being readied for August.

What is your all-time favorite film?

I’m a big movie buff so, man, that’s a tough one. I could easily go with Notorious (Alfred Hitchcock), Miller’s Crossing, Citizen Kane or, of course, Groundhog Day. But given that my family and I recently spent an amazing weekend at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut, I think I’m going to have to go with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The movie is quirky, suspenseful, funny and I don’t think two actors have ever had a better onscreen rapport than Paul Newman and Robert Redford (though Paul Newman and anyone is a close second). But, as watchable as he was onscreen, the way Newman chose to live his life offscreen is what puts him over the top for me. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was just one of the many ways he decided to leverage his fame and good looks for the social good.

What food do you like best when watching a movie?

I can’t watch a movie without eating popcorn. But it needs to be really GOOD popcorn — cooked on a range top in oil with butter and salt.

What all-ages/family movie coming out this summer are you most excited to see?

I don’t think I know of any! Got any tips??
