Welcome to the 4th installment of the summerlong Movie Mondays series on Out With The Kids! This week, we’ve paired up Toca Boca co-founder & CEO Bjorn Jeffery with kindie darling Lori Henriques.
Bjorn Jeffery
As the co-founder and CEO of Toca Boca, the wildly innovative and highly successful iOS app developer for young children which has seen more than 36 million downloads of their games, Jeffery is responsible for all-time classics like the Toca Hair Salon collection (over 15 million total downloads of those alone!), Toca Tea Party, Toca Band, and on and on! Toca Builders, the latest and greatest app in their impressive and ever-growing portfolio, was released last week and the Minecraft-meets-LEGO fun on sale for a limited time.

Lori Henriques
The beautiful & charming Portland, OR pianist elegantly entered the kindie music world in 2011 with Outside My Door, a stunning debut recalling everything we love about the tone of Carol King’s Really Rosie
album. Henriques follow up, The World Is A Curious Place To Live, was released on iTunes last week. *Photo credit: Joel Henriques.
What is your all-time favorite film?
It’s so hard to choose! The film I’ve watched and re-watched the most has to be Annie Hall. Diane Keaton is a wonder, and the fact that her character decides to be a singer in her thirties totally inspired me. Also, I just love the cameos from Paul Simon and Jeff Goldblum. I mean, come on! Aren’t they just darling? I think I discovered this film in my late-twenties and continued watching it weekly as I transitioned into my thirties. It was like therapy.
What food do you like best when watching a movie?
Our favorite foods to accompany movies are popcorn and apples. In honor of this interview, though, I dusted off a favorite recipe from my Grammy. It’s very simple, and, if you like sesame seeds, very yummy. (See below)
What all-ages/family movie coming out this summer are you most excited to see?
We don’t see a lot of family films because our six-year-old son gets really worked up by them. Speaking of therapy, we’ve had countless conversations about the animal control officer from Madagascar III. Same thing with the evil aunt in Arietty. Our best bets for calm, enjoyable viewings are the Winnie-the-Pooh films. They’re so sweet, and they really crack us up. Is one of those coming out this summer? I hope so! We do have a few Leo-approved movies besides “Winnie-Love-Pooh” that we watch over and over: Jungle Book with it’s marvelous music, Horton Hears A Who (bravo to Disney for making Vlad too funny to be scary), and The Aristocats. (Leo’s Eva Gabor impersonation is a thing of beauty.)
