How To Throw A Football Party

Throughout the course of an American football game, there are countless opportunities to get up from your lucky chair — the one that, thanks to you sitting in it religiously for every game while wearing your unwashed jersey, undoubtedly propelled your team to victory last season — to replenish your beverage and to plate up some tasty grub without missing a snap. There are so many stretches where nothing at all is happening to move the game forward in an NFL clash. Don’t quote me, but there’s something like only 17 minutes of actual game activity during a typical 3-hour affair. Therefore, the opportunity to snack is bountiful. That’s why they sell fan apparel in size XXXXL. The same is not true of my favorite kind of football.

For many years of my life, a 6-hour fantasy draft football party extravaganza and then the giddy build-up to kickoff weekend perennially framed early autumn, but that ship has sailed for a variety of heinous reasons. My football season now starts in mid-August and sometimes takes breaks for international duty, a fact that outsiders may find confusing to say the least. This past weekend was one of those tedious European football pauses in an already exhilarating ’15-‘16 season.

Ristorante Pizza and Football

This is how the majority of my autumn weekends look nowadays: up before 8am ET with a big bowl of cereal for the first Premiere League match of the day, which is followed by my Hobbit-esque 2nd breakfast of peanut butter on wheat toast for the second match.

Then I’m ready for lunch, but don’t want to miss a second of either the ‘late’ EPL game (which kicks off just after noon on the east coast of America) and/or the La Liga fixture from Spain featuring my beloved blaugrana; Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Rakitic (who I positively adore) and the rest of mighty FC Barcelona. Thankfully, with Ristorante Pizza by Dr. Oetker, I’ve got myself a plate of crisp, cheesy goodness in 12 minutes flat, which means I won’t miss a single free kick, fingertip save or one of Messi’s magisterial wonder goals.

Whether you and your friends gather for a football party at 1pm ET on Sundays for NFL football or at 8am for Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Swansea City or even—God forbid—the dreaded Blues of Chelsea, tossing a few Ristorante pizzas into the oven is an easy and delicious way to eat extremely well.

Ristorante Pizza and Soccer

I’m a particular fan of the Quattro Formaggi and the meaty Pizza Speciale, but there are seven other tasty and gourmet varieties to keep your palate entertained. You can find these pies at your local supermarket, and if they don’t currently sell Ristorante, you can put in a request with the store manager.

Ristorante Pizza is a quick and sophisticated game-time snack, regardless of your preferred game. I cannot recommend them enough for pre-match, half-time or full-time dining.

And, just in time for fall sports season, Ristorante invites pizza lovers nationwide to fully embrace “me time” with the tasty flavors of Ristorante Pizza by entering the Love Yourself Amore sweepstakes running now through October 31. There are 28 gift cards up for grabs for a “me time” service of your choosing (e.g. carpet/house cleaning services, gardening, massage therapy and more). Click here to enter and to learn more about the contest.
