The Okee Dokee Brothers’ End of Summer Far-Out Campout on Sirius XM Kids Place Live — This Weekend!

The 2nd annual Okee Dokee Brothers’ End of Summer, Far-Out Campout airs this weekend on Sirius XM Kids Place Live (Channel 78). The concert was recorded in the woods of Maryland, just north of Harper’s Ferry, WV, back in May. It was rainy, it was soggy, it was awesome. The Grammy Award winning kindie folk duo were in the final days of their Appalachian Trail adventure and graced the small audience of fellow campers with a trio of newly written songs that were SO. DAMN. GOOD. Also, bonus time!, Brady Rymer, Molly Ledford (of Lunch Money), and Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer were on hand to lend a hand, an instrument, and voices to the chorus of campfire sing-a-longs. And Molly played a brand new Lunch Money song! “Sssssuch A Night!” as Dr. John would say.

After the recording equipment was packed up, and the sky turned dark, and the fire was lite, the grown-ups gathered around to play music, sing and laugh. At one point, The Band’s “The Weight” was played and the Mrs. took a verse in the midst of Grammy Award winning and nominated musicians. She played the Papa Staples (Sister) role (circa The Last Waltz soundstage) and knocked it out of the park. I wish y’all could’ve heard how good she sang that night. But there was no one with their phone out. Instead, we all soaked up the moment as it happened before letting the notes and the memories drift up into the canopy of trees.
