I’m all for recycling, I am, but far too many of the new Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVD sets include stories that were just used in recent collections. This rapid recycling trend has left me mostly ho-hum when Scholastic packages arrive at my front door.
But what to my wondering eyes would appear last week but a newish set of Halloween-y stories to compliment our favorite Scholastic DVD ever. And just when I’d nearly given up on the Storybook Treasures DVD series!
This just-in-time-for-haunting-season batch of not exactly scary – but not exactly placid either – stories centers around TEENY-TINY which hasn’t been reused in over 5 years; that’s more like it. The Mouse watched TEENY-TINY this morning and when asked if anything was scary she said “The witch’s voice and the bats were kind of scary but I wasn’t scared at all. [she’s big on back-to-back conflicting statements. it’s kinda her thing.] Maybe a baby would be scared!!” Yeah, a baby and her 7-year old who refuses to sit for a screening of this DVD because it says “spooky” on the cover. A daredevil, she is not.
The Scholastic TEENY-TINY and the Witch Woman…and More Spooky Halloween Stories DVD is just spooky enough to tantalize your youngest viewers and entertaining enough for your slightly older ones.
