What other kid’s musician would ask a room full of 5-year olds if they’ve ever been to a Liza Minnelli concert?
Randy Kaplan swung by Kennett Square, PA in route from XM Studios in D.C. to his Sunday afternoon kids concert at The Living Room in Manhattan.
The L.A. songwriter performed mostly new tunes, from the just released “The Kids Are All Id”. He mixed in two Minnelli-inspired medleys, one for “5 Cent Piece” and one for “Loquat Rooftop”. As far as old songs played in their entirety, we were treated to “The Donut Song”, as requested by the Bear, and “No Nothing”, Kaplan’s most beloved tale.
As you’ll hear below, the new story songs are strong, funny and work well in a live setting.
