Terrific artwork and catchy pop tunes make Jetta and the Jellybeans latest album a fun romp. Described as a marriage of Schoolhouse Rock and The Bangles, “Tell Me What You Want To Be” proves itself a vibrant, breezy collection of high-energy kiddie tunes. While you probably won’t bust out an Egyptian walk, the music here is quite danceable. The record features some sweet tunes, the title track and “Medicine” prove the strongest and most interesting of the bunch, but is a bit uneven overall. Maybe it’s my general disdain for heavy kazoo usage, but a couple of the tunes miss the mark slightly. Overall though, Jetta and the Jellybeans have released a fun, uptempo CD that your little ones (say 5 and under) should fancy just fine.
“Tell Me What You Want Be” was produced by Chip Douglas, who most famously worked with The Monkees and The Turtles. You’ll hear that crisp 60’s pop sensibility all over this disc.
