One year ago today we boarded the sparkling, so fresh and so clean clean Carnival Vista in Barcelona.
I still vidily remember waking up on that morning. The sun was squeezing its way through the ancient alleyways of the Gothic quarter, casting shadows onto the exposed stone walls of the 3rd floor apartment we’d rented. We got into Barcelona a couple of days early, to have some extra time in my favorite city not named Detroit. The city of Gaudi. The city of Picasso. The city of chorizo and manchego. The city of FC Barcelona. The city of my dreams.
The excitement as my girls shook off time change cobwebs to rise and greet this special day was palpable. Despite having flown all the way across the ocean to do exactly this, they still couldn’t believe they and we were about to cruise for 10 days in Europe on a brand new ship. I was in shock still myself.
Life is weird and wonderful sometimes.
During our time on board, the girls wrote a rap song.
The idea at first was to record it and have some musician pals put it to music to celebrate Vista coming to American in the fall, but that project was never finished.
Time got away from us.
Finally, last week I made a lyric video with some original music the girls composed in Garageband. This 2 minute video featuring photos from our Carnival Vista cruise a year ago today includes all the lyrics to the awesome rap my daughters wrote in honor of the Vista. I was and still am impressed by their rhymes.
That cruise was and still is the most remarkable family vacation experience. Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece. All while sailing on the best cruise ship for families we’ve ever seen.
Enjoy this Carnival Vista Rap by the Bear and the Mouse!
I believe every kid should get the chance to cruise. Doesn’t have to be for 10 days and it doesn’t have to be in Europe. Children will get a taste of the world on board any Carnival cruise.
But if you do want a similar European cruise experience on a brand new Vista class Carnival ship, the Carnival Horizon hits the Mediterranean for a few sailings in early 2018! And it stops in Croatia!! And Sicily!! OMG!!
If you’re interested, more of my writing about the Carnival Vista can be found on PBS and Family Vacation Critic.
Thanks again to Carnival for having us on the Vista. All opinions expressed above are honest and unbiased, as always. I hope this video does them and the Vista proud.
