The Annual Meltdown Family Music & Book Festival is fast approaching!
Meltdown is a free event taking place in Florence, MA @ the JFK high school auditorium on Saturday March 27, 2010 from 10am to 4pm. It’s sponsored by The River, the radio station home of Bill Child’s Spare the Rock weekly kid’s music show.
OWTK is positively giddy to be attending this year, as the lineup of musical and literary guests is outstanding.
Check out this amazing list of all-ages music (a collection of acts which, frankly, can probably only be topped by Kindiefest and the KC Jiggle Jam) you’ll hear at Meltdown 2010:
- Elizabeth Mitchel and Friends
- Uncle Rock
- Alastair Moock
- Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem
- Dog on Fleas
- The Deedle Deedle Dees
- Ratboy Jr.
- Flannery Brothers
- Mariana Iranzi
- plus many, many more
And don’t forget about the authors, including Caldecott and Newberry honorees:
- Mo Willems (Knuffle Bunny, Pigeon series)
- Scott M. Fischer
- Grace Lin
- more authors to come!
Frankly, I have no idea how all this goodness is going to fit into 6 hours.
Our journey north to Meltdown will mark the first leg of a Spring Break roadtrip that’ll have us in Montreal and Niagara Falls before returning home for Easter the following weekend. If you and your gaggle of geese are within shouting distance of Florence, Mass I cannot imagine a better (or less expensive!) way to spend a day together sharing some of the best music being made for families and hearing top notch authors reading some of their work.
Join us, won’t you?
