When the rotten winds of hateful politics blew through the state of Indiana earlier this year, I looked at that one night on our cross country itinerary and cringed. Do we have to pass through a place that has made it okay, and even celebrated in some circles, to not serve people because of who they love? Christ, really?
And then 1 night became 3 as we ending up spending the whole of July 4th weekend celebrating our nation’s independence in Indianapolis. The change came about because of my friend Creed Anthony who lives in the Indiana state capital. He e-introduced me to a mom blogger who introduced me to the local tourism folks and so on and so forth. Turns out there’s a lot more going on in the state of Indiana than just nasty political bullshit, hate speech, intolerance, and bigotry. There’s a lot of fun to be had for progressive modern families willing to take a closer look at a traditional fly-over state.
Head to Family Vacation Critic to read all about what we did, saw, ate and enjoyed in Indianapolis and in the south of the state, where we toured a massive Toyota factory.
There’s so much to do in a weekend with kids in Indiana.
