Would it have been better if they named it Peg + Cat’s Lonely Hearts Club Band? Yeah, slightly, but as is this Really Big Album from PBS Kids’ adorable-overload TV show PEG + CAT hits on all the right notes:
- Stunning cover art (even though it exists only in digital form at this time). I demand this on vinyl. DEMAND IT!
- The use of the word ‘album’ in the title of the album. [swoon]
- Obvious, and brilliant, ode to The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s album art. [love]
- Graph paper. [still love]
- All the songs you and yours kids dig from the show. [duh!]
For some reason I need to remind you of the ages of my girls when I write about kid’s TV, and so I will do that again now: my 10 and nearly-7 year old enjoy, and continue to fancy, programming that skews young. Very young. Right now, there is no more adored show in OWTK-land than PBS Kids’ PEG + CAT (yes, it has bumped Word Girl of its perch). That said, the Mouse just discovered old Pink Panther cartoons while she was home sick this wee, so all bets are off at this time.
