American Family Adventures — Midwestern Road Trip Weekend with Toyota and Hilton Garden Inn

I don’t ask for much. I really don’t.

I don’t ask for much at birthday time, Christmas time, bath time, tea time, anytime. But I did ask for this, and my wishes, every single one of them, were granted. I’m a very, very, very lucky boy. Please feel free to remind me of this fact the next time I’m sulking about NOT being whisked away somewhere grand.

This week my family departs for a whirlwind road trip family adventure, a proper Midwestern adventure that will have us touring the Henry Ford Museum, watching F-150 trucks being assembled at the Ford Rouge Factory, and watching by beloved Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena (my family’s first ever, and my first in nearly 18 years — my god it’s been too long), before heading off to Chicago for a 1893 World’s Fair museum tour (that’s going to be a total geek out fest for me), a toy & game fair, an American Girl store ear piercing / hair salon visit, some deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati’s, and at least one killer Italian dinner. And, quite possibly, an expensive stop at the Michigan State University bookstore between the two cities. Fingers crossed, credit card ready.

This amazing trip is being sponsored in part by my friends at Toyota, who are letting my family borrow a gorgeous new Prius V for the journey, and Hilton Garden Inn, who are so graciously putting us up in their fine hotels. I’m sure I’ll have more folks to thank along the way and afterward.
