OWTK Recipe Box: The Best Crock Pot Pulled Pork BBQ Ever

Here’s what you’ll need to make the best crock pot pulled pork BBQ imaginable. You ready? this is super complicated 😉

Not really. This BBQ pulled pork recipe could not possibly be any easier. There is ZERO chance of messing this up.

Ingredients

1 Crock Pot (Clean)

1 Pork Shoulder/Butt (Boneless)

2 Bottles of Good Root Beer (one for the pork to drink, one for you while you wait. And do try to avoid the A&W’s and Barq’s of the world and find a craft root beer instead, one with no high fructose corn syrup)

7 Hours

In goes one bottle of the root beer. Not the bottle itself, of course 😉

7 hours later, the pork is brown, smaller, smells amazing, and is ready to be pulled apart on a plate with a fork.

Of course, you’ll want some soft rolls (maybe sliders?,) a bottle of your fave BBQ sauce (or homemade BBQ sauce goodness if you prefer,) and feel free to season the pork first with a dry rub or salt/pepper. I sometimes use a few sprinkles of McCormick’s Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple seasoning (as I did here.) Totally your call.

I usually just drop the thing into the crock pot, pour the root beer over top of it, put the lid on, turn it on high, and come back 7 hours later to pull it apart with a fork on a plate, pour a bottle of Wegman’s Memphis Style BBQ sauce over top, stir it all together, and serve warm on soft bread/rolls. We like some mac-n-cheese on the side with steamed broccoli too, but you should get nutty and make it your own.

Enjoy!

They should make air fresheners that smell this good!
