The swimming champ and star of many a musical movie, Esther Williams, has passed away at the age of 91.
This is worthy of a post on OWTK because her films should be big hits with young children, specifically with, but not exclusively, young girls (boys will love some of the male characters in her movies, especially Red Skelton.) My Mouse fell in love with Bathing Beauty as a four year old thanks to her Mom-mom and Pop-pop, and later was given a big ol’ box set of Esther Williams flicks which she enjoys to this day.
If your kiddo digs old Hollywood musicals like Mary Poppins, Singin’ In The Rain, and an American in Paris, look up Esther Williams and dive into her oeuvre of grand Technicolor classics.
