Introducing Underbirds

There have been collaborations before in modern children’s music: SteveSongs and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, the kid-hop king & Lunch Money, Recess Monkey with Sugar Free Allstars, the Peapod choir on the last Dog on Fleas record, and Shawna Kemp upping the class on The Pop Ups’ “Connect the Stars”. The list goes on and on. And it is all good. But there’s never been anything quite like this before.

Two biggies from the kindie world formed a brand new band last year and the result of non-stop bi-coastal collaborations (yay technology!) and a few days of in person recording in Woodstock, NY will soon be released unto the world. Meet Underbirds, the love child of Morgan Taylor (Gustafer Yellowgold) and Todd McHatton (“I Think I’m A Bunny”).

The entire 10 song self-titled album won’t be available until April, but you can stream the first single “Brilliance” right now. It features the lyric of the year (so far) in “Let me hit you with some brilliance / I just found out that I can do this.”
