Watch This: Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko) “Bubbles in Space” Music Video

Michael Andrews, the film composer behind some of the music for Donnie Darko (most famously the cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” with Gary Jules) and Miranda July’s outstanding Me And You And Everyone We Know has turned his artistic talents towards children after becoming a father himself, with his debut family album Spilling A Rainbow.  Fans of Iron & Wine, Gomez, and Bon Iver — whether those fans have kids of their own or not — will want to pay attention to “Bubbles in Space”, the first single from it (the video for which may remind some in my generation of the comic book moments in A-Ha’s “Take On Me” video.)

The flipbook style video for “Bubbles in Space” features 3000 hand drawn pictures from 100 San Diego high school students (and none of A-Ha’s synthy-cheese) and is pretty rad to see, but maybe not for those with Epilepsy or a history of seizures.

Other reasons to love Andrews’ Spilling A Rainbow?

Wicked cover art (see above, slightly, and to the right —>) and it being pressed on vinyl.  Pre-order it now:
