OWTK PHILLY LOCAL

OWTK PHILLY LOCAL: Kids Play Lounge Mt. Laurel (Open House & Groupon Deal)

Formerly known as Kid Junction, Mt. Laurel’s Kids Play Lounge offers Philly-area families a cool place to play indoors when the weather is poor and when the mercury soars towards triple digits (and, like it or not, those days are coming).

The space is divided into a number of areas: Toddler Town, Arcade (with Skee Ball!), Little Town (with Vet Clinic, Pizza shop, Post Office, Grocery Store, etc), and the 2-story Tubes, Slides & Climbers zone.  There are also party rooms for birthdays and such.

Open Play Admission is $8.95 for kids above age 2, $6.50 for those under 2, with crawlers and adults getting in for free. A peanut/tree nut-free cafe in on site with some basics (pizza, hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, yogurt, applesauce, and so on) to nibble on.

My parents took the Mouse to test drive the Kids Play Lounge on Friday afternoon and while Mom mom and Pop pop had some complaints (unruly children with oblivious parents focused on their iPhones – can’t escape that evil pairing anymore it seems – and some equipment/toys already worn down to the point of needing replacing, which is odd since the place just recently opened), the Mouse had a blast for about an hour.  She enjoyed especially the dress up area and the Tubes & Slides and cannot point out a single part of her experience that she didn’t like (save for the aforementioned other children).

The Kids Play Lounge in Mt. Laurel gets two thumbs up from one 5-year-old seasoned traveler and play-area aficionado.

I wasn’t there but the Kids Play Lounge reminds me a bit of a less crowded, way less expensive Please Touch Museum (where adult and kid tickets are $15 each).  Here, you can take a single child and pay just the $8.95.  Even if you spend only 1 hour there, and that is what my Mom set at the ceiling considering the play scenes/offerings (unless your little one makes a new buddy and extends the fun through partner play, or has a sibling to get creative with), it is still a tremendous value compared to indoor alternatives of similar length like a movie or kid’s concert.

Want to try it out for even less coin?  You’re in luck as the Kids Play Lounge is having an open house on Sunday May 6th from 11:30am-2:30pm.  Admission is free for all, there will be outdoor inflatables to bounce in, crafts to make & take, pizza for just $1 a slice, and free gifts. Sounds awesome, no?  The forecast looks gorgeous for Sunday (74 and sunny) but still, you should pop into the Kids Play Lounge open house and let the kiddos loose for a spell.  Just don’t bury your head in iGadgetry while they destroy shit, okay?

There is also an active Groupon deal running for Kids Play Lounge (through the end of this week).  The three different options will save you anywhere between 50-58% on admission and coins for the arcade.

*OWTK received a free child admission to the Kids Play Lounge for review consideration.  The opinions above are honest and unbiased, as always.  Special thanks to my Mom & Dad for taking the Mouse while I was away at Kindiefest, and for the scoop on the joint.
