2011 Nintendo 3DS Top Picks
by Cooper McHatton
The 3DS had a rough start in its first year on the market, but with the $70 price drop and a bunch of long awaited titles, I can say with confidence: it is now time to buy that 3DS!
These 5 titles will surely influence any potential 3DS buying decision. And, in case you weren’t 100% sure, playing in 3D is truly AWESOME!
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario’s first outing on the 3DS is platforming at it’s absolute best. I even would go so far as to say that it’s Mario’s finest handheld adventure ever. Nintendo accomplishes this with facial hair, overalls, and tails, lots and lots of Tanooki tails. Thanks to the numerous difficulty options available, Super Mario 3D Land is the perfect game for young children and seasoned Mario gamers alike.
Mario Kart 7
The Mario Kart series is full of fantastic games, and Mario Kart 7 is a great addition to the already impressive collection. Chock full of new twists like kites on karts, karts that drive underwater, kart customization, and first person steering all on top of a glorious 3D mushroom kingdom with a robust online multiplayer mode, Mario Kart 7 will certainly be one of the finest racing games of the year.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is regarded as one of the greatest games of all time by almost everyone, and playing it again (or for the first time) in 3D on the 3DS is a no-brainer. Exploring the beautifully remastered realm of Hyrule on the 3DS is an awesome experience that is great for the gamer who wishes for a challenge.
Star Fox 64 3D
Fly across space with Starfox with this new take on an old favorite. Starfox 64 3D improves upon Starfox 64’s graphics and changes them to utilize the 3DS’s abilities to a great extent. That, plus the wonderful multiplayer mode, creates one of the best experiences gamers can currently have on their 3DS.
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition (40% off as of Thanksgiving week!)
Since day one on the 3DS, Street Fighter IV 3D Edition has been keeping 3DS owners busy with a plethora of different ways to fight opponents, whether battling the computer, punching friends with local wireless, or fighting random rivals through WiFi. Although Street Fighter IV can be played with other consoles, none can match the 3D experience.
