The girls and I drove down to Gaithersburg, MD on Tuesday to attend Robbie Schaefer’s One Voice Festival, a benefit event for his non-profit organization of the same name.
In addition to narrowly losing out on a pair of silent auctions – you all were thisclose to hearing me as a guest DJ on Kids Place Live – we enjoyed music from Mr. Schaefer, Lunch Money, and Recess Monkey. A killer lineup! The star of the show, however, was that one super wide cloud that rolled through the Gaithersburg area around 6:30pm. Hot damn did we need that relief!
The two out-of-town bands recorded concerts in the Rumpus Room while in D.C. – you’ll be hearing those in the near future on Kids Place Live. You MD/VA/DC folk still have time to catch Recess Monkey live, they’ve got a few more shows scheduled at Wolf Trap in Virginia. They’re from Seattle and only come East for 2 weeks each summer. So, if you’re even remotely inclined to enjoy some of the best kindie music there is, go do it now!
