I didn’t fully appreciate the popularity of Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series until I worked the Scholastic book fair at the Bear’s school late last year. My lord do youngsters love these Wimpy Kid books! I understand from the librarians that the series isn’t the greatest in terms of quality and while that may be true, kids are reading. Let me repeat that: KIDS ARE READING. From a bottom-line standpoint, that’s a-okay with me. I mean, unless they’re reading Penthouse Forum – then its an issue.
