KURT GALLAGHER “ROCKET TO CHOCOLATE”
Yes, the idea of “eating your blues away” is fodder better suited for adult romantic comedies than children’s music but I’ll concede that the sentiment in Kurt Gallagher delightful new single “Rocket To Chocolate” (from the kid’s music veteran’s new album “1 2 3 4”) is too hilarious not to enjoy, even if I can’t escape a visual of Reese Witherspoon curled up on a overstuffed couch with a Crate & Barrel spoon and a pint of crème brulée Haagen-Dazs. And so what that it runs kinda counter to Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, it’s great goofy fun. The tune ends with some toothbrushing postulation, but within the context of the song – eating “chocolate in the morning, chocolate late at night” – it sorta make sense.
This absurd cocoa covered tune has got a sousaphone, a dream sequence, and bells & whistles – literally – and screams 1970’s Sesame Street.
I love it.
