Starting today, and running for the next 2 weeks, CDBaby will be donating $1 to the Red Cross and to Mercy Corps for every single CD (and album download over $8.99) sold. That’s pretty impressive.
It got me thinking that now, RIGHT NOW (or at some point over the next 2 weeks), is the ideal time to buy all those kid’s CDs on your wishlist. Give ’em to your kids, give ’em as birthday gifts to your kids classmates, keep ’em for yourself – whatever you do with all that great music, know that a buck for each disc you buy will be on it’s way to Haiti.
$1 might not seem like much, but pooled with lots of other green George Washingtons, your little dollar will go a long way.
Many, many kindie artists have their albums available on CDBaby. There are, in fact, tons of quality discs spanning all genres on CDBaby.
Here are a couple of my faves (with links):
- Billy Kelly
- Recess Monkey
- Milkshake
- Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem
- Frances England
- The Not-Its!
- King Pajama
- The Sippy Cups
- Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove
- Bari Koral Family Rock Band
- Billy Jonas
- Caspar Babypants
- Clementown
Of course, there are countless other ways to help. Catch a cool kiddie rock show in NYC this coming weekend, visit Dre Towey’s fundraiser and/or text HAITI to 90999 and have a $10 donation added to your cell phone bill (data rates may apply, naturally. Although the cell phone companies should really donate the fees for that text, if they, you know, had a soul).
