2012 Holiday Gift Guide: A Very Personalized Christmas

A VERY PERSONALIZED CHRISTMAS

I See Me Personalized Books & Gifts

Personalized books, CDs and the like can be a dicey proposition. Mouse got an Elmo CD once with her name squeezed into each and every verse (although it seemed like every other word) and it was painful to listen to. The art portion of the artistic output is reduced greatly when the artist is forced to share space with random names of faceless children. There are a few exception to this, hence this gift guide, and one that we’ve seen, read, and enjoyed very much is the I See Me My Own Fairy Tale Book (and coloring book, and placement, and more.) Your child’s name is integrated in a nature way and the story, while centered around the name, doesn’t feel forced in the least. The result is a book you will want to read again and again. Plus, the art is lovely and the presentation is too. The accompanying coloring & activity book is essentially the same tale but in b&w, and the place mat is a snazzy washable kind with the pretty fairies all over it and your child’s name in the center. Other themed books & paraphernalia available for personalizing from I See Me are Pirates, Animals, Birthday, and there’s a personalized storybook app too! Oh my, and this striking carrousel place mat…am I too old for that? Hurry, you have to order your I See Me personalized kid’s books and gifts by Dec 13th to ensure Christmas delivery! And check out the Groupon for I See Me going on right now!

Personalized Chronicle Books

In addition to new original books, you can personalize and/or dedicate existing Chronicle titles like What Sisters/Brothers Do Best, Olive the Other Reindeer, Duck! Rabbit!, Sea Monsters First Day, and many more. This is an amazing opportunity to give a personalized gift directly from the greatest publisher of KidLit in all the land. One quick note: Originally, the Speedster and Princess books were locked into stereotypical gender pronouns, but I fussed a bit and a month later, after a system update at Chronicle, things were changed. Meaning I was able to order a Speedster Book for the Bear, the one she really wanted, using her name and female pronouns throughout. Yay for me, yay for Chronicle! Custom T-Shirts For Your Child’s Pretend School

I’ll admit that this one is ultra-specific on the surface, but I bet that if your kid is anything like my pair, or most other kids for that matter, they play pretend school. The Bear is really into this kind of imaginative play, with a Ms. Bogle nameplate, big dry-erase board, and a trio of old fashion school desks from my Mom’s collection. Maybe you don’t go as far as to name your pretend school, but if you do, like we have, custom school t-shirts (and/or other items) with the pretend school’s logo could just make his or her Christmas. We modify the name of the girls’ actual school to include the Bear’s real first name, and for the logo I literally recreated the real school design. Come Dec 25th, we’ll all have a Juliegium Charter School shirt to wear to pretend school. The Bear is pretty much going to flip.

I can do the same for you and your pretend, in-home school teacher if you wish. Get in touch!

Melissa & Doug Personalized Gifts & Toys

Even before I formed a blog-to-business relationship with them, we were, as parents, hardcore fans of Melissa & Doug toys. It started with wooden puzzles when our kids were very young, and has evolved into felt food (which is genius, and maybe my favorite product of theirs), shopping carts, puppets, and more. Now, you can have just about anything, from blocks to play kitchens, and costume sets to puppets personalized for your kiddo. The costs is just $1.99 per item, which seems fair, to make your child’s bestest M&D toys even more special.
