Home For The Holidays With Hickory Farms & A Giveaway!

No pigs in or out of blankets, zero infantile quiches, and rarely ever an evil egg.

We four enjoy all of these delicacies very much, for sure, but save for officially-sanctioned family Christmastime visits to my mom and dad’s house, we don’t do hor-d’oeuvres.  So when the Hickory Farms Home For The Holidays Gift Box arrived earlier this month, I was perplexed — when do I serve platters of sausages and crackers, cheeses and mustard?  As luck would have it, the opportunity presented itself straightaway.  The Mrs. was going to be late coming home from the office the exact NEXT day after the massive package was left at our door, and then had to get right to her college studies away from clingy children.  Late dinner, hungry kids — shazam, appetizer time!

The kiddos do the breakfast sausage but haven’t taken to any others, cold or grilled. Oh, I’ve tried! A variety of sausages — mild sweet Italian, chicken & pesto, garlic & roasted pepper — have been incorporated into my world (as defined by the outer limits of my backyard fence) famous Mixed Grill summertime dinners, but the little ladies summon their inter Madeline in saying “poo poo”, or, for a more current reference, their McKayla Maroney Not Impressed face. But, but! The Hickory Farms Summer Sausages, Beef and Turkey, have been devoured by them both! The Turkey Summer Sausage is delightful, smooth and mild, more like a ham steak than a sausage in texture and flavor — such a pleasant surprise.  And the cheeses! Oh my, the Creamy Swiss and the Parmesan Herb — my god they are so very good! The girls, who definitely have acquired a taste for fine cheese (Young Mahon, Toma Della Rocca, Raschera, and others thanks mostly to our favorite local restaurant Avalon, and their insanely perfect cheese boards,) also tore apart the Hickory Farm diary offerings.

I may never be crowned the king of hor-d’oeuvres-land, but thanks to Hickory Farms, I know exactly who and what to summon the next time we entertain friends or family in our culinary castle.  And you can too, by entering to win this amazingly delicious gift box for yourself (see below!) or buying the Home For The Holidays or one of the many other gift boxes from Hickory Farms for your Thanksgiving and/or Christmas parties.

There are numerous food & gift box options from Hickory Farms, ranging from a 3-pack of crackers for $10 on up. Here are some of the best looking products I found on the Hickory Farms website:
