And the Grammy goes to
OWTK Kid's Music News — By Jeff on January 31, 2010 at 5:37 pmNo HUGE surprise this year, as Ziggy Marley takes home the Best Musical Album for Children Grammy for his 2009 disc “Family Time”. I didn’t cover Ziggy’s family disc on OWTK, choosing instead to discuss “Family Time” on iVillage.com. Head here to read all about it.
Buck Howdy’s “Aaaaah! Spooky, Scary Stories & Songs” snagged the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children.
A hearty congratulations to Mr. Marley and Mr. Howdy, as well as to the rest of the nominees. Review the Children’s Grammy categories here.
I think my favorite part of the Grammy Awards is the persistent use of the term ‘album’. It’s pretty cute that they, like I, still use the antiquated term.

We had great fun at the Children’s Recording Arts breakfast – 94 people showed up to join the fun at The Farm in downtown Los Angeles. Most of us trooped over to the concert at the Grammy Museum afterward… some (including I) nearly didn’t get in because the place was S.R.O. Apparently, Ziggy brought his entourage and filled the place up!
I missed his performance (he went up first) but saw everyone else.
What fun to see the finale with most of the nominees together on stage. The place was “rockin’!” Young Christylez Bacon wowed everyone with his talent.
Congratulations to the winners!
Beth
That sounds like a wonderful day. Mr. Bacon is a star, without a doubt. He’s fantastic live, so engaging.
One of these years, I’ll attend…although probably not as part of Ziggy’s crew.
